ACTION ITEMS
Superintendent Interview – Michael Wallace
Mr. Kowalski introduced Michael Wallace, Belding Middle School Principal, and reviewed the process that would be followed for the final superintendent candidate interview.
At the conclusion of the interview, Mr. Kowalski called a ten minutes recess.
At 7:35 p.m. the meeting reconvened.
Mr. Janson led the Board through final rounds of statements for each candidate, and then asked for audience input. A tally was then taken by Mr. Janson for the final candidate with Mr. Andress receiving support from four out of seven of the Board members. Mrs. Klida asked if a site visit should be scheduled for the Belding candidate. At this point, Mr. Janson felt that a site visit would not be of benefit as the majority of the Board members supported Mr. Andress.
A motion was made by John Loop, supported by George Thomas, to approve Michael Andress as the new Superintendent of Bangor Township Schools pending successful completion of working out the details of a contract negotiation.
Mr. Sturm stated that a unanimous consensus for Mr. Andress as the new superintendent would be a vote of confidence for Mr. Andress. It would give him new energy and also confidence for the administrative staff. It would be a vote of confidence, not only for Mr. Andress, but for other people as well.
Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Janson suggested that some time after July 1, 2004, he would offer to facilitate a Board/Superintendent workshop if the Board desired.
Mr. Kowalski, on behalf of the Board, thanked Mr. Janson for handling the job very professionally. He stated that this had been a much better development from the process that they have been through before.
Personnel: Approval of Spring Coaches Nate Wotta - Assistant Softball; Douglas Hibbs - Assistant Soccer
A motion was made by George Thomas, supported by Barbara Skowronski, to approve
the coaches as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
OTHER ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION
None.
At 9:04 p.m. a motion was made by John Loop, supported by Dawn Klida, to adjourn the meeting.
Respectfully submitted,
Dawn Klida, Secretary
