October Student of the Month: Alexa Pelton

The BTVS student of the month award is given to students who show leadership, work ethic, academic prowess, and are online learning role models. Sophomore BTVS student Alexa Pelton has been awarded student of the month for September.

Alexa came to BTVS as a freshmen interested in the freedom associated with online schooling.  She has soared academically, been a big part of our social events, and attends the drop in center most days.  We asked Alexa a few questions about how she earned this great honor.

  1. What is your name, and what do your friends call you?  “My name is Alexa Pelton, my friends call me Lexa, and I'm in 10th grade.”
  2. How do you think you earned student of the month?  “I earned BTVS November student of the month by working hard to complete my courses.”
  3. How does it feel to be student of the month?  “It feels nice.”
  4. What was your family’s reaction to earning this honor?  “My dad told me that I rock!”
  5. What makes you unique?  “My bubbly personality.”
  6. What do you like to do for fun?  “I’m on a competitive cheer team.”
  7. What do you like best about the virtual school?  “I like that you can go at your own pace, more flexibility so you're not overwhelmed.”
  8. What advice would you give students who are trying to earn student of the month honors?  “Be the best student you can be!”
  9. Do you think anyone can be student of the month?  “Of course!”
  10. What other awards or honors have you won or earned?  “I've been an honor roll student since elementary.”
