Hello BTVS 8th Grade Families, According to the Michigan Department of Education, state and local assessments are a requirement of all students.  This includes the MSTEP8 and PSAT8 assessments for 8th grade students.  They are also requiring that all assessments be administered in-person.  All schools are to continue with their plans to prepare to test students as safely as possible in their local school buildings.  While there is additional assessment flexibility during the COVID-19 pandemic, there is not an option for “remote” or “at home” testing for the M-STEP8 and PSAT8.  In the context of state accountability assessments, remote testing would create significant issues with validity, equity, comparability, and security. Therefore, this survey is to determine which students will be participating in the MSTEP8 and PSAT8 assessments for 8th grade students.  Please complete the survey for each student that you have in 8th grade by March 16th. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeqrFc-3ywOi9B1_2VAlqyDe6-WKHoYP9x4zHT_rn5LCQy_BA/viewform?usp=sf_link

Count
Hello Middle School and High School BTVS Families, Count Day is next week on Wednesday the 10th of February.  What is Count Day? Count Day is when all public schools in the state of Michigan tally the number of students attending their schools. Count information is critical to districts, because each student translates into state funding. Count Days and school funding in Michigan are mandated through the State School Aid Act.  How is my student counted? Students are counted in ONE of the following ways: Completing gradable work ON February 10th Video Explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxLL5WzAiWc OR Two way communication each week for four weeks following count day Video Explanation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3Ket66meo8 If you have any questions about count day, please reach out to your mentor teacher or Mr. Albrecht!
