Our afterschool board games club will meet on Thursday this week. Please have your ride arranged beforehand

There will be a Leo Club meeting after school today, Tuesday, May 6th in room 22 from 2:30 - 3:15. Please arrange for a ride home beforehand.

Are you interested in trying out for the JGHS Fall 2025 Sideline Cheer Team?  - 8th graders going into 9th grade this fall - John Glenn Cheer Tryout Practices will be held May 19, May 21 and May 22 at 2:30-5:00. The Tryout Date will be May 23 from 3:00-5:00. If you are interested in trying out please pick up a tryout packet to be completed from the CMMS office. 

Attention 8th graders looking to earn volunteer community service hours - Bay County Crime Stoppers is offering Bay County 8th Graders the opportunity to earn community service hours this summer which WILL COUNT toward the required hours needed in high school if you wish to join the National Honor Society or if you plan to apply for college scholarships. Volunteers will be helping at the “RIBFEST” in late July by directing cars where to park at the event. If you sign up with a friend you will be assigned to work together. Volunteers will receive Little Caesars pizza, gatorade, and ice water throughout the day, as well as a FREE admission wristband for all four days of RIBFEST. This is a fun and easy way to earn those valuable community service hours. If you are interested, pick up a signup form from the CMMS office. Once you’ve filled it out, return the completed form to the CMMS office and you will receive a phone call this summer prior to the event to see if you still want to help. 

6th, 7th and 8th graders - Bay City Department of Public Safety is inviting you to attend the 2025 Youth Leadership Program. It will be held on Wednesdays beginning on June 11 and running through July 30. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the role of a public safety officer, firefighter training, evidence collection, impacts of social media, team building courses and water safety. The program will also include field trips to places like Frankenmuth Aerial Park, YMCA, the fire station and much more! If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please stop by the office and pick up an application to complete. You may return the completed application to the office. The deadline to apply is May 23. The program is FREE of charge and breakfast, lunch and an academy t-shirt will be provided. Attention Choir Students - don’t forget that you will be leaving at the end of 1st hour today for your field trip. After the bell rings and your 1st hour teacher has dismissed you, please head over to JGHS to meet Ms. Doering. Don’t forget if you ordered popcorn yesterday it will be delivered to your 6th hour class. We will have a few bags for sale during lunch today as well if you forgot to order yesterday. Our student dress code does not allow for pajamas to be worn in school or midsections to be showing. Pajamas and crop tops are not permitted at CMMS. If any student is violating this policy, they will be sent to the office to call home for appropriate clothing. Continued violation of this policy will result in a formal office referral for insubordination. Students, please be sure that you check your clothing prior to leaving your home each morning to be sure that it is in compliance with this policy. Thank you!

Our student dress code does not allow for pajamas to be worn in school or midsections to be showing. Pajamas and crop tops are not permitted at CMMS. If any student is violating this policy, they will be sent to the office to call home for appropriate clothing. Continued violation of this policy will result in a formal office referral for insubordination. Students, please be sure that you check your clothing prior to leaving your home each morning to be sure that it is in compliance with this policy. Thank you!

Are you interested in helping at our Marking Period 3 Honor Roll assembly? We are still looking for a few readers to help with the opening and closing remarks at our assembly, as well as a few door greeters. If you like greeting people or enjoy public speaking this could be a great opportunity for you! CMMS Pompon Tryouts for the 2025-26 season will be held beginning Monday, April 28 from 4:30-7:00 and Tuesday, April 29 from 5:00-7:00 for Routine Instruction; Judged Tryouts will be held Thursday, May 1 at 5:00 PM. Before tryouts make sure you submit your registration form (registration form can be found on the JGHS Athletics Facebook Page) and have your sports physical uploaded to FinalForms.  

Our afterschool board games club will meet again on Thursday this week. Please make sure you have your ride arranged beforehand.

8th Graders! PSAT will be held today, Wednesday, April 9th. Students can bring and consume snacks and drinks during scheduled breaks in the PSAT 8/9, but not during the test itself, unless they have an approved accommodation. Snacks and drinks must be stored under desks during testing. 

CELL PHONES AND ANY OTHER ELECTRONICS ARE NOT PERMITTED INTO THE PSAT8 TESTING ROOMS PER POLICY OF THE COLLEGE BOARD. ANY STUDENT THAT TAKES A CELL PHONE INTO THE TESTING ROOM WILL FACE DISCIPLINE, AND ALL STUDENTS IN THAT CLASSROOM WILL HAVE THEIR TESTS VOIDED. THAT WOULD REQUIRE THEM TO COME IN TO RETAKE THE TEST NEXT WEEK AS A RESULT OF ONE PERSON’S FAILURE TO FOLLOW EXPECTATIONS. DON’T BE THAT PERSON!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

We would like to send a shout out to the students in Mrs. Montoya's 2nd hour,  KC , Kai , Jackson , Averie , Kaley , and Gavin, for taking the time to help clean the library up and shelf the books. Effective immediately, if any student engages in horseplay outside during lunch, they will be sent into the cafeteria. You will then lose outdoor privileges every day until you have earned the ability to go back outside. Make sure that you are not PUSHING, TRIPPING, HITTING, KICKING, OR WRESTLING AROUND.

Shooting rubber bands at your classmates is not allowed at school. This behavior can cause injuries, distractions, and disrupt the learning environment. Effective immediately, any student caught shooting rubber bands will receive an office write-up and a phone call home. Let’s keep our school safe and respectful for everyone. Thank you for making responsible choices!

Today is popcorn Friday. If you ordered popcorn it will be delivered during your 6th hour. There will be a few bags for sale on a first come first serve basis during A and B lunch for 50 cents. Thank you to our popcorn sellers who volunteered to help us sell yesterday and also today.

This is important information for the girls going with us to Delta College on Friday for the Girls’ Day Out field trip.  Check the lists outside of Mrs. Good’s room to check your group assignment and bus number. Bring your $2.00 to Mrs. Good if you haven’t paid for the trip yet. On Friday, you will meet IN THE COMMONS at 7:30.  You will not go to first hour. Bring your coat and lunch to the commons when the bell rings at 7:30. Be sure you bring your lunch with you if you didn’t order one from school.  We will be gone until 2:00, so you don’t want to be hungry!This is going to be an awesome trip and we are looking forward to exploring STEM activities with you. 

We WILL have popcorn Friday this week! Mrs. Srebinski will be in contact with our student volunteers today sometime as sales will begin on Thursday during lunch. Students, please bring in your 50 cents tomorrow (Thursday) to place your popcorn orders for Friday. A limited amount of popcorn will be for sale on Friday as well on a first come first served basis. To ensure you get popcorn on Friday you should place your order on Thursday with our Popcorn Sales Team Members  - they will be set up in front of the office. Please remember, popcorn must be enjoyed at home and NOT at school.
