Celebration of Talents As part of our Honors program here at CMMS our students participate in a social studies competition. Our 8th-grade US History students submitted their projects to the MCSS Social Studies Olympiad. The MCSS released the results yesterday and a number of our students have medaled. This would not have been possible without the hard work of our teachers and support staff in our district, the parents, and of course the students themselves. Congratulations to all of our students who competed. Current Event Map - The Current Event Map event is intended to help develop students’ knowledge of current events, their understanding about how geography influences current events, and their map making and presentation skills. Gold Medal Nora Goaley Silver Medal Grace Jankoska Bronze Medal Kenzy Bach Historical TV Newscast - Students create, produce, and direct a 10-minute video to simulate what a television newscast would have been in the past. Bangor Township Schools is proud to announce that we will be offering the following Summer Learning options for our current K-8 students. Summer school is open and free to all current K-8th grade Bangor Township students. Summer School options and registration for current 9-11th students will be shared out the week of May 17th. For all Face to Face summer school options, transportation is the family's responsibility. A generous snack will be provided each day, however due to the nature of our summer meal program grant, we will NOT be serving meals during the Face to Face summer school program. More information on the summer feeding program will be shared by our amazing Food Services department soon. OPTION 1: Face to Face "Bobcat Academy" The program will run twice from June 14-24 and August 9-19, Monday-Thursday from 8:30-12:30. You may choose to participate in one session or both. The focus each day will be on Literacy, Math, STEM, mindfulness, and movement. Each day will include rotations through the focus areas with brain breaks in between each rotation. OPTION 2: Personalized Online Program with weekly check-in All current K-8 students in Bangor Township Schools will continue to have access to MobyMax over the full summer break. Students can work on their personalized goals on their own over the summer. In addition, if your student(s) needs that extra encouragement or adult support, Option 2 provides a weekly celebration and encouragement check-in. During the check-in the adult and student will review progress, growth, and adjust learning goals as needed. This option can be combined with Option 1 as well. A summer-long contest will be running for those students who meet their personal goals. Prizes will be awarded at the end of our summer school window. In addition, many teachers are creating optional summer practice packets as well. Plus, all current K-5 students are enrolled in Kids Read Now program in which they will receive a book a week throughout the summer, with activities to complete as a family. Summer School Registration link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSftrlWLWloiMdIJdPelur2wTjB2KlWBJCH3ZZOWq1WemEfDhA/viewform?usp=sf_link Registration is due by Wednesday, May 12th for current K-8th graders.

A Message From CMMS Principal Kevin Biskup: Many of you may have already heard of the news of the administration changes taking place at CMMS and JGHS for next school year. In case you have not heard, I did want to confirm with our CMMS family that I will be heading back to where my career began as a teacher and I will be taking over as the principal at John Glenn High School starting next school year. I am very excited to take this next step in my career and take the lead at John Glenn, but I am certainly sad to be leaving the wonderful staff and students at Christa McAuliffe. For the past ten years the middle school has been my home and I have had the opportunity to build wonderful relationships with our families, students, and staff. The good news is that the middle school will be in great hands as Mrs. Mrozinski will be taking over as the lead principal next school year. I am extremely confident that she will do great things as the principal of CMMS. As a result of these changes we will be hiring a new assistant principal at the middle school. The job was recently posted at the end of last week, so if you know of anyone in our community or beyond that may be interested in this position, please encourage them to submit their application and resume via the link below. https://www.applitrack.com/remc6/onlineapp/jobpostings/view.asp?internaltransferform.Url=&external=external&district=38157&category=Administration I am very thankful to have worked with so many amazing people at CMMS over the years and I wish everyone at the middle school nothing but the best in the years to come. CMMS Parents and Guardians, At last night's board meeting the school board approved the return to our previous hybrid model of remote learning beginning on Monday, May 3rd. As a reminder, this model allows parents the choice to keep their student at home for remote learning or the option to send their student to school to complete their remote learning in the classroom. We will follow the same schedule and procedures that were in place prior to our recent two week pause. If you would like to switch your student from at home remote learning to in person remote learning (or vice versa), please make sure to call the main office at 686-7640 to notify us of this change so that we can pass the information along to our teachers for classroom preparations. Thank you for your continued patience during this challenging school year. Kevin Biskup CMMS Principal
