This morning, despite a rainy Saturday in the middle of a long holiday weekend, members of the John Glenn High School football team showed what true leadership and community spirit look like.
Our student-athletes woke up early to honor our nationβs veterans by placing flags on gravestones at Floral Gardens Cemetery. We are incredibly proud of their selflessness, work ethic, and commitment to paying respect to those who have served our country. They truly exemplified the core values of John Glenn athletics today.
A special thank you goes out to the Arocha family for creating and coordinating this amazing annual event for our football program, and to Floral Gardens Cemetery for hosting us. We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to all the families who braved the weather to bring the kids out and participate.
(Note: We missed a few of our guys in the group photos, but we appreciate every single player who showed up today!)

The John Glenn Girls Soccer team took a massive step toward defending their district title with a dominant 8-0 victory over Bay City Central in the district quarterfinals on Wednesday night!
The Bobcats controlled the match from start to finish, allowing just three shots on goal. The defining moment came early when freshman keeper Ella Bailey came up clutch, saving a Bay City Central penalty kick to keep the game scoreless. From that point on, the Bobcats never looked back.
First Half Exploded
Sophomore Aubrey Moore took over the first half, netting a spectacular hat trick by scoring the gameβs first three goals. Freshman Hailey Leasure set up Moore's first two goals, and senior Bella Snyder provided the helper on the third.
The offense didn't stop there. Sophomore Haile Dora found the back of the net off a terrific assist from sophomore Ayla Gunn. Gunn then turned scorer, burying a goal of her own off an assist from Moore to close out a dominant first half.
In the second half, Bella Snyder added two goals of her own to the scoreboard. Abby Cleland then capped off the night with a final goal to complete the 8-0 victory.
Stat Leaders:

The varsity golf team had two solid finishes this week taking 3rd in the TVC event on Wednesday at the Bay County GC and 3rd in the Bay County Championship yesterday at the Bay City CC.
Wednesday's round saw the team battling not only their TVC counterparts but also the weather. with high winds and a real feel of 38Β°. Mason Hayes took 2nd in the field with a 78, followed up by Ethan Meyer with a PR firing an 82.
While the weather tried to improve yesterday, the sun wouldn't find the course until the final couple holes. Mason Hayes again impresses with a Champion's round of 73. The last Medalist John Glenn had at the Bay County Championship would be Miah Long's 82 back in 2019. Logan Bitzer was the second scoring leader for Glenn with an 86.
Next up - John Glenn hosts the Bobcat Invitational this Monday at the new and improved Bay Valley GC.

We are excited to announce the new Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach for the girls basketball program here at John Glenn High School!
My name is Brandon Belill and I'm super excited to get started as the new Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at JGHS! I'm finishing up my 3rd year as a high school social studies teacher at John Glenn, but am originally from Birch Run - where I was born and raised. I played varsity football and basketball in high school, graduating in 2008.
Basketball has always been my passion, which got me into both coaching and officiating. Since graduating I've coached basketball at both the middle and high school levels - most recently coaching girls basketball at Ovid-Elsie as assistant varsity (5 years), JV (2 years) and middle school (4 years). I've also been a MHSAA basketball official for 18 years, working mainly in the Flint area.
After high school I earned degrees from Delta College ('10) and SVSU ('13) in teaching, before completing my Masters Degree in Instructional Technology from SIUE in December 2025. I have taught for 13 years - the last 3 at John Glenn. My wife, Mackenzie, is a 2010 John Glenn graduate. We've been married for 9 years and have 2 kids: Isla (5) and Caleb (3). Outside of basketball I love to hunt, camp, attend sporting events and hang out with family and friends.
I'm looking forward to continuing to build on the gains the girls basketball program has been making, while also focusing on dominating the simple things to continue to compete at the highest level. I was always taught 4 ingredients to success growing up: sacrifice, dedication, pride and belief and I look forward to sharing those pillars within our program as well. We return a lot of experience and leadership this year, so it's an exciting time for Lady Bobcats Basketball!
Coach Belill brings passion, leadership, and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the court. We are thrilled to add him to our coaching staff and look forward to an exciting future for this program under his leadership.
Please join us in congratulating Coach Belill as we look forward to what the future holds for the Girls Basketball program here at John Glenn High School! πππΎ

Senior Night Success:
Lady Bobcats Tame the Cougars
It was a night of celebration, reflection, and high-stakes competition as the John Glenn High School Lady Bobcats hosted their annual Senior Night. Under the bright afternoon sun, the Bobcats proved they are as clinical as they are sentimental, securing a gritty 5-3 victory over the visiting All Saints Cougars.
The atmosphere was electric as the graduating seniors were honored before the first serve, but once the matches began, it was all business for John Glenn.
Singles Spotlight
In the singles bracket, Emma Dabrowski led the charge with a commanding performance. Dabrowski showcased her signature baseline consistency, outworking her opponent to secure a vital point for the Bobcats and setting the tone for the rest of the lineup.
Doubles Dominance
While the singles matches were a battle of endurance, the Bobcatsβ doubles pairings were the deciding factor in the 5-3 finish. John Glenn swept four of the doubles flights, demonstrating incredible chemistry and communication at the net.
The winning duos included:
Adele Neophytou & Gabbie Bishop
Pearl Norton & Elina Selina
Evelyn Gruber & Chelsea Voss
Sara Sanchez & Sophia Thornton
Each pair displayed remarkable poise, especially in the late-set deuce points, ensuring the Cougars couldn't find a foothold in the match.
A Word from the Coach
The win wasn't just about the scoreboard; it was about the culture built by this group of athletes. After the final match concluded, Coach Miller praised the teamβs effort and the legacy the seniors are leaving behind.
"Winning on Senior Night is always special, but itβs the way these girls carry themselves that really matters," said Coach Miller. "Bobcat Pride isn't just a slogan; itβs the grit they show when theyβre down a break and the class they show when the match is over. I couldn't be prouder of how this team represented our school tonight."
The Lady Bobcats look to carry this momentum into the final stretch of the season, fueled by a big win and a whole lot of Bobcat Pride.

Marathon at Jopke Park:
Lady Bobcats Show "True Grit"
in 7-Hour Quad
In a grueling display of endurance and skill, the John Glenn Lady Bobcats Varsity Tennis team proved today that they are a force to be reckoned with. Competing in a high-stakes Quad Tournament at Jopke Park, the Bobcats faced off against a formidable field including the Bay City Central Wolves, the Hemlock Huskies, and the Ovid-Elsie Marauders.
By the time the sun began to set on the home courts of Bay City Central, the Bobcats had spent over seven hours in competition. Their persistence paid off: 10 of the 12 Varsity starters walked away with victories, marking a dominant day for the program.
Singles Success and
Doubles Dominance
The Bobcats found success across the board, demonstrating depth in both individual and team play. In the singles brackets, Emma Dabrowski and Katie Gallagher delivered commanding performances to secure their wins.
The doubles courts were equally productive, with John Glenn sweeping through much of the competition. Winning pairs included:
Adele Neophytou & Gabbie Smith
Elina Selina & Pearl Norton
Chelsea Voss & Evelyn Gruber
Myla Fraim & Ava Schlicht
The Match of the Day:
Gallagherβs Tiebreak Thriller
While the teamβs overall record was impressive, the atmosphere at Jopke Park reached a fever pitch during the final match of the afternoon. Katie Gallagher found herself locked in a marathon battle against a heavy-hitting opponent from Hemlock.
After trading games for nearly two hours, the score sat deadlocked at 8-8, forcing a 7-point tiebreaker to determine the winner. With teammates and spectators lining the fence, the pressure was at its peak. Gallagher refused to blink, grinding out a 7-5 victory in the tiebreaker to seal the win.
"Katie had nerves of steel in her last match and defeat was not an option for her," said Coach Sanborn following the victory. "Her play epitomizes the true grit that every one of the Lady Bobcats showed on the courts today."
The Lady Bobcats will look to carry this momentumβand their "nerves of steel"βinto their next conference matchup.

JV Softball keep their hot bats alive with a sweep at Bay City Western and a split at home against Grand Blanc. The Bobcats have six batters currently hitting over .400, and many fantastic plays have been made on the field, including a throw-out at the plate from the outfield to end the game!

The John Glenn Girls Soccer Team tied Garber 1-1 in Girls soccer action on Monday night.
The game started out as a back and forth affair with each team moving the ball and getting some chances but the keepers were up to the task with a 0-0 halftime score. In the second half Glenn took control and got the better of possession and had several opportunities in the Garber half when finally the Bobcats broke through with a nice combination cross from Maya Johnson to Bella Snyder who one touch dropped a pass to Freshman Pria Herek who scored her first Varsity goal to give Glenn the 1-0 lead.
This would hold solidly until a fortuitous home whistle in the box gave Garber a PK and the Dukes made good on the chance.
The game would end 1-1
Freshmam Ella Bailey played well stepping into the starting role at Keeper making 5 nice saves in the contest. Freshman Hailey Leasure played a strong game to ignite the Glenn Midfield.
