Though we fell to Garber tonight in round 2 of districts the scoreboard doesn’t tell the full story. The energy in the court was electric and the teamwork was nothing short of inspiring.  The girls played with heart, grit and unity leaving it all on the court.  This season is a testament to growth, resilience, and the power of family.  Thank you to every player, coach, and supporter who made this season unforgettable. Back-to-Back State Finals: John Glenn Boys Tennis Makes School History For the first time in school history, the John Glenn Bobcat Boys Tennis Team has qualified for the State Tennis Finals in back-to-back seasons—a remarkable milestone for a program that continues to rise to new heights. This year’s MHSAA Division 3 State Finals, held close to home at the Midland Tennis Center, gave the Bobcats a rare advantage: a little extra sleep and a short trip to the courts. Facing off against some of the top 20 teams in the division, the Bobcats proved they belonged among the state’s best, competing with grit, heart, and pride throughout the day. The standout moment of the tournament came from the #3 Doubles team of Nolan Waibel and Brandon Wood, both first-year players for the Bobcats. Riding a wave of confidence after winning first place at both the TVC Championship and the Bay County Tournament, Waibel and Wood delivered another thrilling performance on the state’s biggest stage. Matched up against a strong duo from Parma Western, the pair dropped the first set but refused to back down. With determination and teamwork, they battled back to take the second set and clinched the win in a dramatic 10-point tiebreaker. Their victory didn’t just mark another win—it made John Glenn history, earning the first-ever points for the Bobcat Boys Tennis Team at the State Finals. Coach Miller and Sanborn, parents, and fans alike praised the team for their effort, sportsmanship, and continued growth of the program. Every player contributed to a season that will be remembered for its milestones, momentum, and moments of pure perseverance. John Glenn High School just scored their first points at States with a win by the doubles team of Brandon Wood and Nolan Waibel!!! Way to go Bobcats!!

John Glenn volleyball had a thrilling week packed with competition and standout performances. The team hosted a Tri on Tuesday, securing a victory over New Lothrop before battling Hemlock in a spirited senior night matchup. Though they fell short against Hemlock, the energy and celebration made it a memorable evening. The momentum carried into Thursday as the team traveled to Nouvel and dominated across all levels. Lauryn Bitzer led the charge with an impressive stat line: 14 kills, 3 aces, and 3 digs. Emma Dabrowski added power at the net with 11 kills, while Jessa Jezak kept the offense flowing smoothly with 14 assists.

The Boys Tennis State Finals will take place in Midland. Matches will be held at two different locations. All Singles players and #1 Doubles will be playing at the "Midland Tennis Center" The rest of the doubles players will be playing at the Tennis courts at Midland High School.

The Girls Soccer Team will be defending their District Championship in 2026; Any Freshman or new student to John Glenn (9-12) that is interested in playing Girls Soccer in the Spring, please contact Head Coach Matt Kraft at mkraft31276@gmail.com or 7165812213 to get connected with the team and get information on upcoming team training. Off Season workouts will begin after Thanksgiving so we want to get everyone connected as soon as possible.

BACK TO BACK DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR THE JOHN GLENN BOYS SOCCER TEAM!!! The Bobcats defeated Bay City Western in the District Final at John Glenn 4-1. We had goals by Asher Clark (3) and Landon Beson-Montoya (1)! The Bobcats move on to the regional semi-final at Fenton HS vs Fenton on 10/22.

JGXC Boys are County Champs! For the first time in 20 years and only the 3rd time in school history, the John Glenn HS boys won the Bay County Championship Meet, defeating defending champions Bay City Western High School 30-33. The Bobcat boys were led by senior Henry Schanbeck who took 2nd overall with a season best 17:01. Sophomore Leif Briggs-Lind (3rd overall), senior Conner Wilkinson (5th overall), senior Phil LaFromboise (11th) and sophomore Jesse Bayn (16th) scored for the Bobcats - all posting times under 20 minutes to secure the victory.

Henry Schanbeck, Leif Briggs-Lind, and Conner Wilkinson earned 1st team All-County honors, while Phil LaFromboise earned 2nd team All-County honors.

The Lady Bobcats finished 3rd as a team with sophomore Eulalia Jou and senior Kyleigh Bunting both posting new lifetime best times and earning 2nd team All-County honors.

Assistant XC Coach Jenna Briggs-Lind said, "We're really proud of the progress of this team. They bought in early on the process this season and put in the work in July and August and are seeing those results now in October. At this meet last year we only had two runners post times under 20 minutes and this year we had five, with two more very close to breaking it. It's great to see their effort paying off with late season success."

The work isn't done yet. The Bobcats now turn their focus to their regional meet in Shepherd in two weeks where they're hoping to send runners into the State meet for the first time since 2021.

Congratulations goes out to Asher Clark. Tonight Asher became the all time leading scorer in John Glenn soccer history. Asher has accumulated 160 goals so far in his career at John Glenn passing Ty Richards (159). John Glenn continues their pursuit for a second district title on Thursday 10/16 vs Bay City Western here at John Glenn High School at 6:30pm.

Join us on Wednesday, October 15th for our Dig Pink Volleyball Game in support of a breast cancer patient who is the parent of one of our students. The Freshmen team plays at 4:30 PM, JV at 5:30 PM, and Varsity at 6:30 PM. In addition to the games, we’ll be holding a bake sale, a 50/50 drawing, and a fun serving game where you can win pizza!
