John Glenn Bobcats Tennis
Sweep Over Hemlock Huskies
On a warm summer evening at Hemlock High School, the John Glenn Bobcats Boys Tennis team wasted no time making a statement to start their season, defeating the Huskies on their home courts with an impressive 7-0 sweep. The victory showcased the same determination and skill that took the Bobcats to the State tournament last year, proving they are ready to pick up exactly where they left off.
The match was a display of dominance from top to bottom. Every singles and doubles player took care of business in straight sets, setting the tone early and never letting Hemlock gain any momentum. In doubles play, the Bobcats revealed glimpses of their new lineup—a necessity after graduating six varsity players from last season.
Coach Miller expressed confidence in his squad’s depth and adaptability, saying, “We have to find 6 new players to play Varsity Doubles this year, and it looks like we definitely will be able to accomplish that.”
Coach Sanborn echoed the enthusiasm, praising the team’s focus and execution. “Our singles players tonight looked extremely strong and focused. Every player won their match in straight sets. This is a great start for the season.”
With such a convincing season opener, the Bobcats have sent a clear message to the rest of the conference: they’re not just defending last year’s success—they’re aiming to raise the bar even higher in 2025.
Winning today:
Singles:
#1 - Tom Dwan
#2 - Patrick Dwan
#3 - David Ferrio
#4 - Jack Pfeiffer
Doubles:
#1 - Dylan Werner/Corbin Sanborn
#2 - Karter Box/Brady Petrimoulx
#3 - Aiden Hellybuyck/Nolan Waibel

Bobcat Boys Tennis
looks to
Repeat Historic Season
The 2025 John Glenn High School Boys Tennis team is stepping onto the courts this spring with big shoes to fill — their own. Last season, the Bobcats made school history by qualifying for the MHSAA State Finals as a team for the very first time. That groundbreaking accomplishment has set the bar high, but the early signs point to another exciting year ahead.
Despite losing half of last year’s Varsity roster — six of their twelve players — to graduation, the Bobcats aren’t slowing down. In fact, their first practice of the season saw an astonishing 31 boys come out to join the team, almost doubling last year’s numbers. This surge in participation shows just how much last season’s success has inspired the next generation of Bobcat tennis players.
Head Coach Miller, Assistant Coach Sanborn, and returning players alike know the road back to States will be challenging, but the energy, enthusiasm, and sheer depth of this year’s roster has them ready to rise to the occasion. With hard work, determination, and that trademark Bobcat pride, the 2025 squad is aiming for nothing less than another historic run.
Go Bobcats!

John Glenn's Thomas Dwan Dominates Bay County Tennis Tournament
August 3, 2025 – Bay City, MI
The future of John Glenn Boys Tennis is looking brighter than ever, thanks to the remarkable performance of junior standout Thomas Dwan at this year's Annual Alex Burke Memorial Bay County Tennis Tournament.
Dwan, who is preparing to begin his third season as a Varsity player for the Bobcats, made a major statement over the weekend by winning both the High School and Men's Singles divisions—an impressive double-title feat that no other player matched.
On Saturday, Dwan stormed through both brackets without a single loss, showing off his trademark mix of consistency, composure, and fierce competitive spirit. In a tournament known for bringing out top talent from across the region, Tom stood alone as the only unbeaten player in both the high school and men’s singles divisions.
Then, on Sunday, Dwan returned to the courts with family pride on the line, teaming up with his older brother Jack Dwan, a former John Glenn Tennis standout. The sibling duo displayed flawless teamwork and sharp court instincts to go undefeated in the Men’s Doubles division, capturing 1st place and adding yet another trophy to the family shelf.
With three titles in one weekend, Thomas Dwan has solidified himself as one of the top rising players in Bay County—and a force to be reckoned with heading into the upcoming high school tennis season.
Congratulations, Tom, on a weekend of dominance, and best of luck as you continue your Bobcat journey this fall!
