Ethan is our only powerlifter competing in the MHSPLA this season. What a journey itβs been!
Coach Legrow had this to share;
After finishing 3rd at States last year in the 165 class, we promised weβd be back for a shot at the title. Then came a serious elbow injury during wrestling, and for a while, we werenβt sure heβd compete at all this winter.
On Feb. 12, he was cleared.
At the Last Chance Regional in Romeo, the goal was simple: qualify and go 9-for-9. Ethan did more than that.
Squat: 390
Bench: 280
Deadlift: 500
Two months post-injury. First meet in 11 months.
1170 total. 3rd place. 9-for-9. Medal earned.
He now heads to the Varsity State Meet on March 7th at Lake Orion High School ranked 7th overall . He is just 55 pounds out of 1st place.
I couldnβt be more proud of Ethan and the resilience heβs shown to get to this point. To battle back from a serious injury, return to competition, and put himself right in the middle of the state title conversation says everything about his character. He could have easily shut it down, focused on rehab, and finished out his senior year. But thatβs not who he is.
Itβs been a privilege to coach him these past two years from supporting his decision to play soccer in the fall to watching him help lead that program to another district title. Iβm excited to see whatβs ahead for him as he finishes high school and moves on to college and adulthood.
But right now, our focus is simple.
One goal in front of us: a State Championship.

Coach Hartt is having a meeting for anyone interested in playing baseball this spring on Wednesday, March 4th at 2:40 in room A4, (Mr. Jamrogβs room.) The meeting will last about 20 minutes.

Next up: The boys play Friday the 20th against Hartland in Flint for their first regional game.
Bay City John Glenn Girls had an incredible district tournament. We finished runner up to number 1 state ranked Romeo in the team district scoring. The team entered seven wrestlers today and all of them wrestled to at least the blood round. The team was led by Vivian Arnold who won the 120 pound weight class to claim our only district champion. Gracie Fernette 115 and Jayden Chandler 190 both took second. Mya Kukulski 235 and Addison Mahoney 170 both finished fourth. This gave us five qualifiers that will move on to regional 3 at Warren Mott next Sunday. I could not be more proud of the team and what they did today. We worked hard all week on specific techniques and mindsets. We knew we had an opportunity to have a great day and they delivered. Taking second in the team standings was just an added bonus we were not expecting.

The boys played their last home game yesterday against the Bay City Wolves.
Final Score:
Thunder-8
Wolves-4
Points scored:
Jake Rau-Pinconning: 2 goals and 1 assist
Max Miller-Swan Valley: 2 goals and 1 assist
Beckett Pruden-Swan Valley: 1 goal and 1 assist
Kwess Mathews-John Glenn: 1 goal and 1 assist
Cody Voydanoff-Clio: 1 goal
Cam Mair-Swan Valley: 1 goal
Solomon Harris-Carrollton: 1 assist
Byron Wilson-Swan Valley: 1 assist
Patrick Dwan-John Glenn: 1 assist
