JGXC Boys are County Champs! For the first time in 20 years and only the 3rd time in school history, the John Glenn HS boys won the Bay County Championship Meet, defeating defending champions Bay City Western High School 30-33. The Bobcat boys were led by senior Henry Schanbeck who took 2nd overall with a season best 17:01. Sophomore Leif Briggs-Lind (3rd overall), senior Conner Wilkinson (5th overall), senior Phil LaFromboise (11th) and sophomore Jesse Bayn (16th) scored for the Bobcats - all posting times under 20 minutes to secure the victory.
Henry Schanbeck, Leif Briggs-Lind, and Conner Wilkinson earned 1st team All-County honors, while Phil LaFromboise earned 2nd team All-County honors.
The Lady Bobcats finished 3rd as a team with sophomore Eulalia Jou and senior Kyleigh Bunting both posting new lifetime best times and earning 2nd team All-County honors.
Assistant XC Coach Jenna Briggs-Lind said, "We're really proud of the progress of this team. They bought in early on the process this season and put in the work in July and August and are seeing those results now in October. At this meet last year we only had two runners post times under 20 minutes and this year we had five, with two more very close to breaking it. It's great to see their effort paying off with late season success."
The work isn't done yet. The Bobcats now turn their focus to their regional meet in Shepherd in two weeks where they're hoping to send runners into the State meet for the first time since 2021.

John Glenn Bobcats Varsity Boys Tennis Team Qualifies for States for Second Consecutive Year
The John Glenn Bobcats Varsity Boys tennis team made history once again as they secured a spot in the State Tennis Tournament for the second year in a row. Early this morning, the team boarded a bus at 5:00 AM, traveling all the way to Bloomfield Hills, and didn't return to John Glenn High School until 7:00 PM. But despite the long, tiring day, the Bobcats' determination paid off in a big way.
Facing off against 9 other teams in the Regional Tournament, the Bobcats fought hard throughout the day to earn one of the coveted spots at the State finals. In the end, their efforts were more than enough, as the team secured the 16 points needed to qualify.
Coach Sanborn shared his pride in the team's performance, particularly highlighting the strong showing of the singles players. "Our singles boys played strong today in taking 11 of the needed 16 points to qualify," said Coach Sanborn. "Their determination and skill were key in helping us make it back to States."
A standout performance came from Tom and Patrick Dwan, who both went undefeated in their matches, earning not only a spot in the Regional Finals but also solidifying their places at the State competition. Their stellar play was a huge boost for the team, and they will certainly be ones to watch at States.
The Bobcats' achievement marks a significant milestone for the program, as qualifying for States for two consecutive years is no small feat. Itβs a testament to the teamβs hard work, dedication, and talent. As they gear up for the State Tournament, the Bobcats will be looking to bring home even more success this season.
With the momentum from this victory, the team is ready to represent John Glenn High School on the state level once again. Stay tuned as the Bobcats continue their journey to bring home more victories!

Glenn played pretty well heading back up to Bay View CC in Petoskey for their Regional competition. It was nice that we were paired with Western as well, which gave the girls some comfort in knowing at least one of their playing competitors during a round. Glenn finished 7th overall (in the middle of the pack) with a team score of 419, which was 37 strokes better than when we traveled up there at the beginning of the season. Glenn was led by Kate Cataline with a solid 99, which was 5 strokes off making it to the State Finals as an individual. Olivia Duprey had her driver dialed in and shot 10 strokes better than her earlier trip and had her season 18 hole low with a 102. Alli Caldwell followed up with a 106, Lauren Atkins 112, and Kahlan Dutkiewicz 128. This caps a wonderful season with girls. Hard to believe I don't have golf practice tomorrow!

Bobcats Finish Conference Season Undefeated with 7-1 Victory Over Hemlock
The John Glenn Bobcats Varsity Boys Tennis team closed out their conference schedule in dominant fashion Tuesday afternoon, defeating the Hemlock Huskies 7-1 in their final Tri-Valley Conference (TVC) matchup of the season.
With the win, the Bobcats capped off a perfect conference season, going undefeated in TVC play and firmly establishing themselves as the team to beat heading into the postseason.
From the opening serve, John Glenn showed why theyβve been the top contender all year. Strong performances in both singles and doubles competition carried the Bobcats to a near-sweep of the Huskies, whose lone victory came in a close-fought doubles match.
βThis group has worked hard all season,β said Coach Miller. βTheyβve stayed focused, battled through some tough matches, and earned every win. Iβm proud of the way theyβve carried themselves on and off the court.β
The momentum doesnβt stop here. The Bobcats now set their sights on defending their TVC Conference Championship title at the Midland Tennis Center this Friday. Last season, they emerged as conference champions β and with their perfect record intact, theyβre hungry to repeat.
βWe know itβs not going to be easy,β said senior co-captain David Ferrio. βBut weβve been preparing all year for this. Weβre ready to bring it.β
Fridayβs matches at the Midland Tennis Center are expected to draw tough competition from across the region, but the Bobcats carry confidence, chemistry, and a proven track record into the tournament.
Stay tuned as the Bobcats look to make history β again.

Today Wednesday Sept 24th the CMMS 7th and 8th grade girls basketball teams will be playing their game here at John Glenn High School. We are excited to give them the opportunity to compete in the high school gymnasium. Please keep in mind that parking is in the back of the building. Please use the drive that is closest to our soccer field for the easiest access to our entrance. Please use the Athletic EVENT Entrance. This entrance is located by our pool and just before our gym entrance.
With all the construction happening on our campus we wanted to make sure everyone is aware of where to enter for events here at JG. DO NOT ENTER THROUGH THE GYM DOORS (Athletic Entrance). That entrance is only for high school athletes, coaches and staff.
Once you enter the Athletic Event Entrance you will follow the hall to the end passing by the pool and the athletic office then take a left. You will pass by concessions and through the double doors, our gym will be on the left.
The cost to enter will be $6 via GOFAN, credit card or cash.
