7th Grade Volleyball teams getting in a Friday practice before their Monday game. 💙🤍🏐

The 8th grade volleyball team traveled to Freeland on Monday night for their opening match of the season. Both the Blue and White teams came away with victories over the Falcons, picking up right where they left off last year!
Every player contributed to their team’s success, but spotlight performances were made by the following student athletes:
For the White team, Brooklynn Bullock was devastating with her front row play and excellent serves while Pria Herek had multiple attacks at the net and key blocks for her team.
For the Blue team, Ella Bailey had an amazing kick save for her team, along with multiple attacks and kills, and Grace Garcia dominated the net, devastating Freeland with her blocking ability.
Great job ladies! The next match is Monday vs. Frankenmuth at 4:30

Just a reminder that GOFAN ticketing is the only way to purchase admission in the district games hosted here at JG. No passes and no cash will be accepted for entry. Admission is $7 and can be purchased using this link for tonight's match up

Happy Monday! We have added another coach to our CMMS coaching staff!! We could not be happier that Coach Lang is going to be part of our volleyball program!
Meet Coach Shannon Lang
Hello, my name is Shannon Lang and I am excited to announce I will be one of the new 7th grade volleyball coaches at CMMS! Throughout my life, I have been involved in a variety of sports, both as an athlete and a coach, and I am looking forward to this new opportunity to share my love of athletics with the students of CMMS. Bobcat pride was instilled in me at quite a young age with both of my parents heavily involved in John Glenn Athletics and the John Glenn Booster Club for many years. Therefore, it is no surprise that I would become involved in athletics myself.
I grew up in Bangor Township and graduated from John Glenn High School. Following high school, I furthered my education at Central Michigan University, where I graduated with a B.S. degree in Child Development & Psychology. I then went on to grad school earning my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. Currently, I am employed as a physical therapist at Riversbend Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center. I continue to reside in the area with my husband Jeff and our 3 daughters (Korbyn, Quinnlyn, & Adrien) who all attend Bangor Township Schools. As a very sports-oriented family, we find ourselves quite busy with numerous school sports as well as club sports and outdoor activities. In our free time, we enjoy being at the cabin on Snyder Lake, camping throughout Michigan, and traveling to new areas as much as possible.
My approach to coaching is grounded in a passion for physical activity and a commitment to helping others achieve their greatest potential. By not only focusing on volleyball skills but life skills such as teamwork, communication, and perseverance, fostering a sense of belonging, and ensuring the experience is an enjoyable one, I aim to make a positive impact on these young athletes both in sports and in life! Let’s go Bobcats!
Welcome to the team Coach Lang 🏐💙

We would like to introduce to you one of our new additions to the coaching staff at CMMS!
Meet Coach Theresa Moore
Hi, my name is Theresa Moore. I am thrilled to be one of the new 7th grade girls volleyball coaches. I have close to 20 years in education and currently work as a kindergarten teacher at Bangor Lincoln Elementary. My husband, Adam, is the Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at John Glenn. We have three daughters. Aubrey is a freshman at JGHS, Addison is in 7th grade at CMMS and Avery is in third grade at Bangor Lincoln. We are a typical busy, schedule filled sports family. All three girls play travel basketball and travel soccer. They also participate in school sports including basketball, volleyball and soccer.
I participated in multiple sports growing up including volleyball and believe that sports are an excellent way to learn how to work with others, communicate effectively, learn to have a good work ethic and also give opportunities to use problem solving skills. Sports can help prepare students for real life situations.
I look forward to helping our 7th grade girls learn more about volleyball as well as create a bond and friendships that can last a lifetime. Go Bobcats!
Welcome to the team Coach Moore! 💙🤍

Meet Boys Freshman Basketball Coach Michael Hayes
My name is Michael Hayes born and raised in Bay City. I graduated from Bay City Central in 2001 and played for Coach Clyde my sophomore year while leading our team in scoring. Over the last 15 years I’ve coached freshman basketball over at Bay City Central, numerous YBA teams, school teams recently including CMMS 7th and 8th grade. It wasn’t my plan to coach but the need was there and thankfully with owning my own insurance business and having amazing staff I’m able to have flexibility and decided to help the program. My goal is to help the program grow at the Freshman level and do what varsity does so the kids are more prepared when they get to that next chapter. I’ll have an assistant Kyle Cochran who I coached with at Bay City Central help me when he’s available. Kyle is born and raised in Bay City as well and we’ve played basketball together since we were about 5 years old. He’s the owner of Green Lawn Sprinklers and has been married to Stacey Cochran for 12 years and has 2 kids Arla (7) and Myles (4). I’ve been married for 17 years to my wife Megan, and have 2 children Mason (15), and Marie (13). My passions outside of basketball and coaching are hunting with my friends and family, golfing, skiing, and relaxing at our cabin near Cadillac, MI.
Welcome to the team Coach Hayes 🐾

Meet Coach Wallaker
My name is Gabriel Wallaker and I am happy to share that I will be joining the John Glenn Basketball Staff as the new JV Head Coach for the 2024-2025 season! I’m excited to utilize my past experience of being a middle school coach at CMMS, a volunteer coach for Bangor Rec, and from being a player myself at JGHS! I’ve learned and developed early in my basketball career by playing along side some strong talent in AAU, and being coached by well known names like Tory Jackson and Darvin Ham Jr. I’ve had the luxury of being a basketball scout player with the SVSU Women’s team, working directly with the coaching staff and players of a D2 program. I am currently enrolled in a 3+1 program with Delta and Northwood, striving to achieve my BBA. Along side of this, I’m currently working at Morley Companies on their HR Team. Amidst my busy schedule, I want to give all my effort and passion of basketball to the hard working student athletes that deserve it. I’m excited to get to work with the coaches and players, and can’t wait to learn and share all that I can!
Let's get to work Coach Wallaker 🏀💪

MADDY ANDERSON, JOHN GLENN
The versatile sophomore has emerged as an impact performer for the John Glenn girls swimming team, helping the Bobcats to an undefeated dual record. “Maddy has put in a tremendous amount of work this season,” coach Bob LaRocque said. “She leads by example, supports her teammates and shows that hard work pays off.” Anderson ranks among area leaders in eight events, including at No. 3 listing in the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke. She is part of the area-leading 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay.
TRENT PHILLIPS, JOHN GLENN
All the pieces fit together perfectly for the John Glenn soccer team this season, and Phillips was a vital one. A midfielder by trade, the senior volunteered to shift to defense to fill a need and came up big for the district champions. “His work ethic in competition is impressive and he plays hard every minute he is on the field,” coach Brian Scherzer said. “He scored some key goals for us this season to either start the scoring in a match or to get the game-winner. He is a great teammate and player.”
Congratulations to you both and lets get to voting BOBCAT NATION!!

Please join us in congratulating the Winter 2025 John Glenn Dance Team!

JOHN GLENN 34, SWARTZ CREEK 14
It was virtually a playoff game for John Glenn. And the Bobcats looked postseason-ready.
Needing a victory for a shot at its first playoff berth since 2017, Glenn rose to the moment and stormed to a 34-14 win over Swartz Creek.
“This is a really big step toward getting the program back where it belongs,” fourth-year coach Jon Horton said after securing his first five-win season.
“I was really impressed by the poise they showed in a situation they have never been in on the football field.”
Glenn (5-4) got a crunch-time performance from sophomore Garrett Hilborn, who ran for 134 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries – all in the first half. Garrett Buzzard was 7 of 19 passing for 132 yards, connecting with Isaiah Hankinson on a big-time 58-yard touchdown toss.
Buzzard also rushed for 57 yards on seven carries and Jonny Ford ran for a touchdown in the win. Bradley Boyk had four catches for 67 yards. Horton said Valentino Solano led the way defensively.
“It was another great night of physical football, particularly from our linebackers,” he said.
