🍎 Meal Update for Families 🍎

While the state budget remains undecided and the future of free school meal funding is uncertain, Bangor Township Schools is committed to ensuring no student goes without a healthy breakfast or lunch.

At this time, families do not need to pay for school meals for the 2025-26 school year. We will continue to provide free meals for all students using supplemental funding until a permanent decision is made.

We do ask all families to complete the Free and Reduced Meal Application, which helps us secure important state and federal funding: https://bangortwp.familyportal.cloud/

🎾 Thank You from Bobcat Tennis! 🎾

At last night’s Board of Education meeting, our varsity tennis team shared their gratitude with the board, Superintendent Matt Schmidt, and Assistant Superintendent Kurt Pake for their hard work in making the new John Glenn High School tennis courts a reality.

Over the years, both our middle school and high school tennis programs have grown tremendously. With the new courts completed this summer, our Bobcats now have a facility they’re proud to showcase as they welcome visiting teams this fall season.

As a special thank-you, players presented board members with signed tennis balls used during the very first match on the new courts.πŸ’™πŸΎ

πŸš—πŸ’¨ Off to the races!

Last week in Mr. Willey’s SmartLab classes, both CMMS and JGHS students put their math and physics skills to the test by designing and 3D printing parts for their very own cars. πŸ–¨οΈβš™οΈ

After all that problem-solving and precision, the big moment came - race day! It was a perfect blend of creativity, competition, and hands-on learning.

πŸ’™πŸ€ Three Generations of Bobcat Pride πŸ€πŸ’™

Bangor Township Schools is truly a family - and for the Schlink/McCrum family, that’s especially true. We are so proud to celebrate three generations now working in our district:

Cheryl Schlink, bus driver, has been serving Bangor Township Schools for 40 years and has been behind the wheel since 1988.

Trisha McCrum, Assistant Athletic Director at John Glenn, has supported students in many roles since 2012 and stepped into her current position in 2022.

Carah McCrum, paraprofessional at Bangor West, is a 2023 graduate who also spent three summers working at Bobcat Summer Camp and is now preparing for a future career in teaching.

All three are proud Bangor alumni β€” Cheryl (Class of 1975), Trisha (Class of 1996), and Carah (Class of 2023).

When asked what makes Bangor Township Schools special, the family shared:

β€œWe’ve each had different experiences in the same buildings at different times, shaping us into who we are today. It has always felt like a safe and special place, and we’re proud to give back to the district that gave so much to us.”

How does it feel to work together across three generations? Cheryl says, β€œIt’s just awesome and I love it!” Trisha adds, β€œI’m happy to know my mom and daughter are part of making school joyful.” And Carah shares, β€œI’m excited to be on the team with my mom and grammie!”

This is Bobcat Nation at its best β€” generations of love, dedication, and pride in our schools. 🐾

⚠️Important Update on School Funding⚠️

As the 2025-26 school year begins, we want to keep our community informed. Michigan lawmakers have not yet passed the K-12 budget, which could risk a state government shutdown on September 30 and delay vital school funding.

These dollars are essential for staffing, class sizes, transportation, supplies, and student programs. The solution is clear: lawmakers must pass a K-12 budget that keeps School Aid Fund dollars where they belong-supporting our students.

We encourage families to contact their legislators and urge them to protect school funding. Find your lawmakers here: πŸ‘‰ http://www.legislature.mi.gov/Legislature/Legislators
