This May, during National Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10, 2024) and throughout the entire month, we're joining the Michigan Department of Education in shining a spotlight on our amazing educators! The MDE’s Office of Educator Excellence is dedicating this month to honor and celebrate the remarkable impact teachers have on our students' lives across Michigan.

We invite parents and students to create 15-30 second videos thanking our dedicated teachers. Share how they’ve made a difference in your life!
👉 Check out the instructions on the flyer and submit your videos and parental consent through the Teacher Appreciation Video Project Google Form by April 19, 2024.

🤲 Use your hands to create a "waffle pattern" by crossing fingers slightly spread apart. Look down to see the crescent sun shadows during partial eclipse stages.

Let's welcome Mr. Zak Zuzula, our new Assistant Principal of Athletics at John Glenn High & Christa McAuliffe Middle School! 🏫 With a journey from a middle school social studies teacher to leadership roles, Zak's background includes a Masters in Educational Technology from MSU and diverse coaching experiences. 📘🏀
Mr. Zuzula never envisioned a career in education growing up. However, a transformative two-week visit to his middle school history teacher during college opened his eyes to the profound impact educators have on young, eager minds. 👀🏫 This experience shifted his path toward education, leading him to embrace the program at SVSU with passion and enthusiasm. 🌟 Today, Zak finds joy in every day he spends in this field, living by the saying, "Find what you love, and you'll never work a day in your life."💼💙
Before joining the world of education, Mr. Zuzula was a traveling musician 🎶, touring the country and recording music 🎤 with his brother. This period was filled with fun and memorable experiences shared with a loved one ❤️. Today, Zak still enjoys playing music 🎸 and is passionate about athletics 🏃♂️, especially golf 🏌️♂️, which he plays as often as possible. He values family time, actively participating in his children's interests—from video games 🎮 and baseball ⚾ to enjoying golf with his wife!
