Athletics Update 11-15-20
The MHSAA just issued the following release: The three ongoing fall tournaments, girls swimming & diving, volleyball and football, have been suspended. The MHSAA will be exploring all options to complete these three remaining Fall tournaments. At this same time, discussions will take place to revise Winter sports plans that will include updated practice and competition calendars. As we have promised since March, the MHSAA will continue to be transparent and flexible while sharing information and updated timelines once those are set. Our goal since June remains unchanged as we will continue to plan for three sports seasons that can all be completed during the 2020-21 school year.
Here's what the recent information and guidance means for Bangor Township Schools Athletics right now:
1. Athletic activities are postponed for 3 weeks and facilities are closed at this time. No practices, no competitions, no individual private workouts with our coaches/volunteers with any student athletes unless we are otherwise directed. The MHSAA has issued the following directive which we will adhere to: The only allowed coach-player contact and activities for all sports (fall, winter and spring) is virtual communication and meetings through at least Dec. 8 or until these new orders are amended.
2. CMMS Girls Basketball will be postponed.
3. JGHS Winter Sports tryouts and practices are postponed including Thunder hockey.
4. JGHS Girls Swim and Dive postponed- waiting on clarification regarding pool usage.
5. JGHS and CMMS Pompons are postponed.
6. Fundraising initiatives currently underway that can be done electronically are still permitted.
When further guidance is available we will share that on our website and social media. Questions can be directed to Athletic Director Craig Aimar aimarc@bangorschools.org

CMMS Pompon tryout information

With the announcement yesterday from the Governor and the MHSAA, we are happy to move forward with the Fall Sports seasons of Cross Country, Girls Golf, Boys Tennis, Volleyball, Girls Swim/Dive, Boys Soccer and Football. We will adhere to all of the health and safety protocols that have been in place since June, including Daily Health Screenings and temperature checks of all of our student-athletes. We support any participation decisions families make for Fall athletic activities. There will be spectator restrictions in place for athletic events and we will convey the process for those in the next few days. There are still a number of items we are addressing at this time including working with the Tri-Valley Conference on Fall Schedules. Those will be released when available. We have a meeting with the Central Michigan Youth Football League next week for further clarification on youth football and schedules. CMMS athletic information and guidance will be released in the next week as well. I appreciate your patience, as information and guidance is ever-changing and coming at a fast pace right now. We look forward to a great and safe Fall season.

Any Fall athlete who either has their season postponed or wishes to participate with another team, please know that JGHS Cross Country and Boys Soccer are still accepting new athletes for teams. Email kaczor00@hotmail.com for Cross Country

Cross Country Practice begin this week. Please see attached photos for full details and schedule. Email physical forms to athletics@bangorschools.org. Please bring your own water bottle and facemask
