John Glenn Girls Soccer notched another win at home on Monday night with a 6-0.win over Alma. The Bobcats controlled the play from start to finish only allowing Alma into their half of the field a few times and limiting them to only 2 shots on goal and no scoring chances. The challenging wind, a block defense and an excellent effort by the Alma goalkeeper kept the game scoreless at halftime despite 17 shots on goal by the bobcats..but In the second half Glenn was able to spread the defenders out and and move the ball at will from right left and find plenty of open lanes to explode for five goals in 20 minutes. They would add a late goal with players shifting around into new positions. Carli Johnson had 2 goals and 2 assists,.Ella Wallaker had 2 goals and 3 assists, Isabella Snyder had 1 goal and 3 assists and Freshman Quinn Lang scored her first Varsity Goal. Fiona Meisel and Brayde Smith collaborated for shut out.

John Glenn Girls Soccer got back in the win column Thursday night in Frankenmuth.. Glenn got on the board first when Ella Wallaker buried a penalty kick halfway through the first half after Freshman Ayla Gunn darted into the box and was taken down from behind..That would be all the scoring in the first half. Second half would see a back and forth game and Frankenmuth took momentum and scored two goals in 4 minutes to take the lead 2-1. After that the lady Bobcats would do what they have done all season, refocus and play physical possession soccer and retake the games momentum. After several scoring chances were near misses, Ella Walllaker sent a perfectly placed corner kick to Bella Snyder who headed the ball into the goal for the tying score. Five minutes later Wallaker found Snyder again on a through ball between the center defenders the resulted in a breakaway goal giving Glenn the 3-2 lead. That's how the game would end. Keeper Fiona Meisel made 16 saves for John Glenn. The win brings Glenn to a 9-4-1 overall record. They will go for double digit wins vs Alma on Monday

"JV Lady Bobcats Serve Up Wins in Rivalry Rumble with Garber" The John Glenn JV Lady Bobcats tennis team faced off against their crosstown rivals, the Garber Dukes, in a showdown that had more twists than a spaghetti noodle. Tensions were high, rackets were ready, and ponytails were flying. The Bobcats clawed their way to several impressive victories, but the highlight of the match came from the freshman doubles team of Giselle Coon and Harper Jackson. These two brought the drama, grit, and a whole lot of heart in a match that seemed to last longer than a family vacation car ride. At one point, they played a game with eleven deuce points. That’s right—eleven! It felt like it might never end, but somehow Giselle and Harper pulled off the win, pushing their match into an epic tiebreaker. Fans were gasping, teammates were cheering, and Coach Miller may have aged three years in that single game. “Giselle and Harper played their hearts out on that court tonight—as did every Lady Bobcat,” Coach Miller said, possibly while holding back tears of joy (or exhaustion). “I am so proud of how hard our JV team has worked this year.” Winners on the day were: Pearl Norton Evelyn Gruber Payton Schabel Maci Betzold Chelsie Voss Go Bobcats!!

Arrow VanWagoner Annabelle Werner, and Ella Wallaker ARROW VANWAGONER, JOHN GLENN One thing the John Glenn boys track and field team already knows is that VanWagoner can fly. The junior is setting a torrid pace in all of his events for the Bobcats. “Arrow has really become the kind of runner our staff believed he could be,” coach Matt Bolles said. “The kid is a tireless worker. Arrow demands you critique every practice run and also his long jumps. He is a perfectionist and works his butt off every day in practice to improve.” He has posted PRs of 11.36 in the 100 and 22.57 in the 200 and soared beyond the 20-foot milestone in long jump. He was a state qualifier in the 4x100 and 4x200 relays last year. ANNABELLE WERNER, JOHN GLENN Werner has already exhibited that this is going to be a big season for her with the John Glenn girls track and field team. The sophomore hit a milestone by clearing 10 feet in the pole vault at the Oiler Invite. “She has been a top performer in each of her individual events all season,” coach Ted Lind said. “She leads through her example and, as a sophomore, she’s bound to be a team leader for several more years.” Werner also cleared 5 feet in high jump and posted a PR of 13.59 in the 100 this spring. ELLA WALLAKER, JOHN GLENN When the John Glenn girls soccer team needed it most, Wallaker showed what true leadership is all about. Playing shorthanded due to injury and illness, the Bobcats saw their senior elevate her game and lead the way to five straight victories. “Wallaker was the leading voice in keeping things positive and focused and rallying the team to support each other and celebrate different people stepping up and changing positions to find success,” coach Matt Kraft said. In a three-game stretch, she played all 240 minutes, tallying five goals and five assists, including a hat trick in a 3-2 win over Freeland. "Lady Bobcats Score Big Wins in Cadillac Showdown" The John Glenn JV Lady Bobcats tennis team hit the road this afternoon, traveling north to take on the Cadillac Vikings in an exciting matchup. Despite facing tough competition on the Vikings’ home courts, the Lady Bobcats held their own and walked away with several impressive victories. Among the highlights were two standout performances: Aubree Woolever and Harper Jackson both secured their first wins of the season, showing determination and skill that helped boost the team’s overall success. Their victories marked a proud moment for the squad and demonstrated the team’s growth and competitive spirit. Other winners on the day were: Savanah Grauherr Emma Barber Maci Betzold Allie Rivard With their strong showing in Cadillac, the Lady Bobcats continue to build momentum for the rest of the season. Some happenings in track in the last week or so... Wednesday Jimmy McCrum took first place with a PR in high jump of 6ft in Frankenmuth Friday April 25th in Mt Pleasant the boys 4x200m relay team broke a school record that has stood since 1968 and they ran fast enough for an early qualifier for the State meet. 1:30.9 was the record from 1968 and on Friday the boys team of Cam Garcia, Che Arocha, Bradley Boyk and Arrow VanWagoner ran 1:30.11. Arrow VanWagoner also achieved an early qualifying mark for States with a 22.57 (he needed to be 22.60 or faster). So far these four boys would be the only that have qualified for states so far. We also anticipate the boys 4x100m relay team qualifying as well as Bradley in the individual 100m. We have a couple with solid opportunities to qualify in both long jump and high jump though early qualifying marks haven't been hit yet. Annabelle Werner is currently ranked 1st in the region in Pole Vault and likely to qualify though she hasn't hit the early qualifying mark yet. The girls 4x200m relay is currently ranked 5th in the region and they would need to finish 3rd or better at the regional meet to qualify. Journey Frasier also has an outside chance in both hurdle events. Lady Bobcats Dominate at Bridgeport The John Glenn Lady Bobcats tennis team traveled to Bridgeport High School this afternoon and delivered a performance to remember. In rare and impressive fashion, the Lady Bobcats swept every match in straight sets, defeating the Bearcats with a commanding final score of 8-0. This weekend our boys Varsity Golf competed in a 2 day event and here is Coach Remington's recap Day 2 is in the books. Glenn finished 13th overall out of a 24-team field. It was a tale of two climates! Yesterday was held at The Nightmare. We teed off with temperatures in the 50s and finished our round with temperatures at 77, sunny the whole time. Today, we teed off at The Dream in overcast conditions, and the temperature sat at 42 degrees, with the real feel of 37. Both days saw the Bobcats fire similar scores, even though The Dream plays tighter and the temps were 30 degrees colder. Proud of how they handled those temps today. Mason Hayes managed to fire T10 round of 78 yesterday and T8 round of 79 today to earn him the 7th spot overall for the two day tournament and some hardware. Congratulations Bobcats ⛳🥇

The Lady Bobcats soccer team welcomed Flushing on Friday night and came away with a hard fought 2-1 victory, extending their win streak to five. The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead in the 5th minute when Bella Snyder buried a shot off a give and go from Ella Walllaker. The Bobcats kept up the pressure throughout the half generating several good scoring chances but the Flushing keeper was able to keep the score at 1-0 going into the half. The second half proved to be a physical battle with each team having opportunities. With 15 minutes to play Walllaker received a pass from Addisyn Dodge and sliced past the defenders into the box and rifled a shot into the upper right corner of the net to extend the Bobcats lead to 2-0. The cushion would only last a couple of minutes as Flushing was awarded a PK and made the most of the opportunity cutting the Bobcats lead to 2-1. The Bobcats withstood a couple of late shots by flushing to preserve the 2-1 victory. Glenn Keeper Fiona Meisel stood tall in goal making 12 saves. The Bobcats next match is Monday vs Conference rival Garber.

The wait is over we have named our new head varsity boys basketball coach! Help us to celebrate and welcome him into this new role meet Coach Derrek Clyde! My name is Derrek Clyde and I am beyond excited to get started as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at JGHS! This coming season will be my 12th season as a basketball coach. I spent my first 4 seasons as a coach at CMMS, coaching the 7th grade and then 8th grade basketball teams. I then traveled to White Pine for a year as an 8th grade coach, followed by my first JV and Varsity assistant experience at Freeland in 2019-2020. I coached the last 5 seasons at John Glenn serving as the JV coach and lead Varsity assistant for 4 years, and a full-time Varsity assistant this past season. I am a proud alumni of John Glenn High School and have been in the Bangor system since I was in Kindergarten at Bangor West. I graduated from JG in 2014 and earned a degree in education from Delta and SVSU where I also played baseball. I continued my education and earned a Masters Degree in Athletic leadership and sports management from SEOSU in 2022. I now teach US and World History at the High School, as well as coaching basketball. 2025 is off to a great start landing this position, as well as getting engaged to my fiance Kayari Cook in January! Outside of hoops I enjoy spending time with my family and dogs, traveling, umpiring baseball, watching and attending other sporting events, and spending time with friends. I have always been a sports-oriented and competitive person, so board games are also a favorite of mine! As far as the program goes, I am just grateful to be given the opportunity to continue to impact our young athletes and students at John Glenn. I have been fortunate enough to coach alongside my dad the last 5 years and we've put a premium on growing a culture of hard-work, competitiveness, and the importance of the TEAM, which will continue to take priority in this program. Family is the motto for JG basketball and it truly is a family deal here. I appreciate all of the support and kind words I have received from everyone so far and couldn't be happier in this new role. JGHS Girls Soccer keeps on Kickin'! John Glenn Girls soccer notched another win on Thursday Night vs TVC rival Swan Valley 6-2. The Lady Bobcats dominated possession of the ball and played the majority of the game in Swan Valley side of the pitch. Junior Carli Johnson started the scoring for the Bobcats by crashing the net and burying a rebound from a shot by Bella Snyder. Senior Ella Walllaker would find the back of the net from the top of the box a few minutes later after a slick passing combination set up by Senior Emma Blossom and Snyder. Senior Reese Dora would get her first goal of the season by placing a one timer in the lower right hand corner off a cross from Snyder right before the half. The Bobcats continued the pressure in the second half when Walllaker would get her second goal of the night on a pass from Freshman Maya Johnson. Snyder would add a goal of her own on a well placed through ball from Walllaker with about 14 minutes remaining. Carli Johnson would finish the scoring by volleying in a goal, her second of the contest, off a high crossing pass from Senior Brayde Smith. Seniors Fiona Meisel and Reese Dora split time in goal for the Bobcats who improved to 7-3-1 on the season. They return home for a non conference tilt with Flushing on Friday night.

Bobcat Golf in full swing! Glenn placed 4th in their first Tri-Valley Jamboree and were lead by Mason Hayes with a 76, which earned him Medalist honors.

Big win for Bobcats 14-2 lacrosse! Excellent play by everyone the players all really pushed through and helped make this team successful tonight! The John Glenn Varsity Softball team won 2 games today against Vassar to improve to 7-5 on the year. We Travel to Ann Arbor Greenhills tomorrow for a doubleheader.
